Doe Deere: Unicorn Queen of Lime Crime

Doe Deere is named the “Unicorn Queen” of the cosmetic world. She was born in Russia but raised in New York, and led her life to study fashion design. She eventually founded her own company called Lime Crime Cosmetics, and she is currently operating the business with her husband.


Doe Deere started Lime Crime in 2008, and she was considered one of the few successful women entrepreneurs in the beauty industry since then. The Unicorn Queen continues to hustle as she is remotely operating in Los Angeles California. She continues to formulate cosmetic lines that are unique, colorful, and very self-expressive. Additionally, her products are cruelty-free and vegan.


Lime Crime now offers a variety of cosmetics including eye shadow, pigments, liquid liners, nail polish, lip gloss and fabulous lipsticks.



The Birth of Lime Crime

Doe Deere started to make her own fashion stapes by creating an online store. Then she suddenly had an epiphany that she should create a cosmetic line that matches the clothes that she was selling. She couldn’t find makeup that matches the fashion style of her online store, so she decided to create her own.


At present, she fancies two things–fairy tales and makeup. That is the main inspiration of Doe Deere’s Lime Crime products. She always strives for her cosmetics to be imaginative, unique and cruelty-free. She wants women all over the world to express themselves through the power of makeup and to have fun while doing so. Lime Crime’s “mascot” happens to be a unicorn, which according to her, represents being creative, imaginative, and beautiful.



Going Uphill in Lime Crime

Back in 2008, Doe Deere started Lime Crime by marketing it as a magical and unique cosmetic brand. She now sells her products online and it exists in many retail stores both locally and internationally.


Doe Deere initially sold Lime Crime clothing via eBay in 2004. That was her first experience to manage a digital store. By her first year in fashion, she started having several sales which she considered a steady income.


This was succeeded by her cosmetic brand by the same name. She started by selling eyeshadow palettes, blush, glitter highlights and makeup brushes. They were originally sold for $10-12 each. By making video tutorials, her brand gained popularity, and that was the beginning of her officially launching Lime Crime’s cosmetic products.



Rising from the Challenges

Doe Deere wasn’t an overnight success, in fact, she worked hard to be where she was at. She started out as a student in Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. At first, she was deeply interested in fashion, but since she felt like she could do more by being an entrepreneur, she dropped out and began her Lime Crime fashion brand.


Through this, she learned a lot of things about business and understanding the trends so she can market her products better. The Unicorn Queen had doubts if clothing was something she really wanted to pursue long-term in her business plan. She just let her creative side shine, and this is what led to her creating her own makeup brand. Since then, she is very grateful for all the experiences that allowed her to reach where she’s at right now because she knows she is doing what she loves and believes that she is helping women become more confident in their own skin.
